AFL combined player wages topped more than $200 million for the first time in 2015, with two players topping $1.2 million alone.

The AFL has released its total player payment summary for last year, with the final figure of $200.2 million jumping nearly six per cent on the 2014 figure of $188.9 million.

The average salary of the 718 players (not including rookie) topped $300,000 for the first time, up from $283,000.

94 players made $500,000 or more, a figure that no player had reached in 1999.
