RELIABLE defender Nick Smith has signed a two-year contract extension that will see him remain with Sydney until the end of 2018.

Smith, who joined the Swans through the 2007 Rookie Draft, has played 142 games in the red and white, which includes the 2012 premiership.

The 27-year-old was also an All-Australian in 2014.

“With Nick he’s the absolute clubman,” football boss Tom Harley said.

“He’s been a really high level contributor on the field, an All Australian, a premiership player and consistently a top-10 club champion finisher.
“He’s got the runs on the board and also what he contributes to the club off the field is fantastic.”

Sydney opens its NAB Challenge campaign against Port Adelaide at Blacktown on February 20.
