Bisset looks to build

BELMONT Lions coach Nathan Bisset hopes an impressive second-half performance against Thomson will give his team some confidence heading into this weekend’s meeting with Inverleigh.
After trailing by 46 points at half-time, the Lions slammed on eight goals to three in the third quarter to cut the margin to 16 points at the final change.
The Tigers were able to steady on hold on for a 23-point win, but Bisset is confident it wasn’t a flash-in-the-pan effort after pre-Easter losses to East Geelong and Bell Post Hill.
“We didn’t go out there (after half-time) and reinvent the wheel,” he said. “We just made a couple of little tweaks to what we were doing.
“I found that what we were doing was right. It was just those little breakdowns in the chain that stopped us from scoring in the first half.
“We identified what we needed to do. We made those two or three little changes, and the ball started flowing our way.”
Bisset admits the star-studded Hawks will be hard to beat at Winter Reserve on Saturday.
“I want to really focus on us moving forward,” he said. “We take little wins this year.
“We don’t have to beat Inverleigh to find a little bit of satisfaction. We just have to kick our goals each game.
“If that results in a win, great. If it doesn’t, it means we’re still moving forward and ticking those boxes.”
