ANAKIE

Werribee Centrals (a), Belmont Lions (h), Bell Post Hill (h), East Geelong (a)

Verdict: The Roos will be happy to have only copped reigning premier Bell Post Hill once, as well as elimination finalist Belmont Lions. However, they will cop North Geelong, Inverleigh and Bannockburn twice along with sixth-placed Thomson.

BANNOCKBURN

Thomson (h), North Geelong (a), Werribee Centrals (h), Belmont Lions (a)

Verdict: Only meet two of the top seven teams from 2015 twice – Bell Post Hill and Inverleigh – a good result for new coach Peter Riccardi. Will be happy bogey team North Geelong is among the four they meet once.

BELL POST HILL

Corio (h), Geelong West (a), Anakie (a), Winchelsea (h)

Verdict: As a new era begins for the Panthers under Steve Lewry, the teams they play once in 2016 filled the bottom four places on the GDFL ladder in 2015.

BELMONT LIONS

Geelong West (h), Anakie (a), Winchelsea (a), Bannockburn (h)

Verdict: A challenging fixture for the Lions as they look to make consecutive finals for the first time since the old Division 2 days. Have return meetings with fellow finalists Bell Post Hill, North Geelong and Inverleigh, as well as sixth-placed Thomson.

CORIO

Bell Post Hill (a), East Geelong (h), Inverleigh (h), Thomson (a)

Verdict: The rejuvenated Devils will be glad to only cop Bell Post Hill, Inverleigh and Thomson once, but will have two meetings with archrivals North Geelong, Belmont Lions and Bannockburn.

EAST GEELONG

Inverleigh (h), Corio (a), Geelong West (a), Anakie (h)

Verdict: New coach, club great Shane Bailey, has been thrown a tough draw first up. Plays four of the top five twice, with fellow 2015 strugglers Corio, Geelong West and Anakie among those they play just once.

GEELONG WEST

Belmont Lions (a), Bell Post Hill (h), East Geelong (h), Inverleigh (a)

Verdict: The Cheetahs, who are going to be a key player in pioneering twilight football in 2016, avoid return meetings with reigning premier Bell Post Hill and finalists Inverleigh and Belmont Lions. Will be happy to play the likes of Corio, Anakie and Winchelsea twice.

INVERLEIGH

East Geelong (a), Thomson (h), Corio (a), Geelong West (h)

Verdict: Have the toughest draw of the finalists from 2015. The Hawks play fellow top five members Bell Post Hill, North Geelong, Bannockburn and Belmont Lions twice.

NORTH GEELONG

Winchelsea (h), Bannockburn (h), Thomson (a), Werribee Centrals (a)

Verdict: The Magpies will need to negotiate return meetings with Bell Post Hill, Inverleigh and Belmont Lions in their quest to go one better than 2014-15.

THOMSON

Bannockburn (a), Inverleigh (a), North Geelong (h), Corio (h)

Verdict: Have arguably the best draw of any team in the competition as they look to return to the finals for the first time since 2012. The Tigers will meet just Bell Post Hill and Belmont Lions twice of this year’s finalists.

WERRIBEE CENTRALS

Anakie (h), Winchelsea (a), Bannockburn (a), North Geelong (h)

Verdict: A mixed draw for the Centurions. Get two meetings with the likes of Corio, Anakie and East Geelong, but also have to battle Bell Post Hill, Inverleigh, Belmont Lions and Thomson twice.

WINCHELSEA

North Geelong (a), Werribee Centrals (h), Belmont Lions (h), Bell Post Hill (a)

Verdict: Only meet country rivals Inverleigh and Bannockburn twice from this year’s finalists. Will also be happy that the likes of Corio, East Geelong, Anakie and Geelong West are return bouts.
