GEELONG Falcons have suffered a blow on the eve of the TAC Cup finals with scans confirming a knee injury suffered by Baden Remmos in last week’s win over Oakleigh Chargers is a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.

In his second season on the list, Remmos has played 15 of a possible 16 games, kicking 15 goals and been named in the Falcons’ best seven times.

“He’s a really popular kid within the group and within the club,” coach Andy Allthorpe said.

“He works extremely hard on the field and on the track, he’s super competitive.

“It’s heartbreaking for him, and he’s pretty close to Rhys (Mathieson) and Darc (Parish), so it certainly upset them earlier in the week.”

Remmos is the third Falcon to suffer the injury in the last 12 months following Max Augerinos and Alex Kranjc.

The Falcons meet second-placed Dandenong on Sunday hoping their top four hopes are still alive.

The best hope of snatching the double-chance is Sandringham Dragons upsetting fourth-placed Eastern Ranges on Saturday and then the Falcons beating the Stingrays.

However, Allthorpe says he isn’t getting caught up in what could unfold.

“We understand the situation, but we just need to focus on getting our game right,” he said.

“A lot of the things are out of control, so we’re not really worried the other games and hoping for this and hoping for that.

“(We’re) worried about getting our own house in order.”

Meanwhile, the a tough season for the Western Jets comes to an end against neighbour Calder Cannons.

An upset win and a loss for Bendigo to Murray Bushrangers would be enough to lift the Jets off the bottom of the ladder.
