THE GFL looks set to have a final series without South Barwon for the first time in a decade following the Swans 35-point loss to Bell Park at McDonald Reserve.

The reigning premier were blown out of the water by an 8.1 to 2.2 second quarter.

With two rounds to play they now sit six points behind St Joseph’s who trailed North Shore at quarter time before running out 126-point winners at Drew Oval.

Leopold is well placed to claim its first GFL minor premiership after handing Saturday wrap- August Lara a 157-point hiding at Memorial Park.

They’ve replaced Newtown & Chilwell in top spot after the Eagles 20-point loss to Colac at Central Reserve.

St Mary’s confirmed its finals berth with a 95-point hiding of Grovedale at Burdoo Reserve. In the days other game St Albans rolled GWSP by 27 points.

 

The final spot in the BFL top five will be decided by next week’s clash between Barwon Heads and Drysdale after both had Round 17 wins.

The Seagulls battled past Modewarre and the Hawks had the better of Portarlington.

Ocean Grove bounced back from last week’s loss to hammer Anglesea by 89 points and all but secure third spot with a round to play.

Queenscliff will finish fourth after belting Newcomb by 226 points at Grinter Reserve.

The round finishes tomorrow at Queen’s Park when Geelong Amateur takes on Torquay.

 

Winchelsea remains in the GDFL top five after overcoming East Geelong at Richmond Crescent by 43 points.

The Blues now need to beat Inverleigh in the final round to ensure they play the Eagles in an elimination final.

Werribee Centrals kept alive its hopes of snatching fifth spot following a 100-point smashing of Thomson at Galvin Park.

The Round 18 blockbuster between North Geelong and Bell Post Hill will be a battle for the minor premiership after both had comfortable wins.

The Magpies rolled Belmont Lions while the Panthers ended the finals hopes of Bannockburn.

Inverleigh secured the double-chance after beating Anakie by 62 points and Geelong West ended a nine-game losing streak by beating Corio by 54 points.
