Night opener for VFL Cats

It means new coach Shane O’Bree’s first game in charge will be the Round 2 Friday night clash with Northern Blues at Simonds Stadium.
The Cats will also play under lights in Round 3 against country rivals North Ballarat.
Geelong will have return meetings with Northern Blues, Frankston, Collingwood and Essendon.
However, they play K-ROCK Cup rivals Werribee just once, Round 15 at Simonds Stadium.
As expected there are no AFL curtain raisers.
In good news for fans, there are only two games that crossover.
The Round 5 meeting with Essendon at Windy Hill starts at 12.00pm and the AFL Cats meeting with West Coast at Simonds gets underway 2.10pm, while the Round 19 clash with Richmond is scheduled for a 5.00pm bounce, starting around three-quarter time of the Cats-Tigers meeting at the MCG.
Geelong will play five practice matches:
- March 12 vs. Essendon @ Tullamarine, 12.00pm.
- March 18 vs. Richmond @ Punt Road, 6.30pm.
- March 26 vs. North Ballarat @ Simonds Stadium, 12.00pm.
- April 2 vs. Collingwood @ Simonds Stadium, 12.00pm
- April 9 vs. AFL Academy @ Simonds Stadium, 12.00pm
