Rohan on track to return

GARY Rohan is expected to come straight back in for the Cats as they take on Fremantle at home on Saturday for Round 19.

The veteran forward was a late withdrawal for Geelong last week, unable to get up for the clash against Brisbane with an ankle issue.

He was replaced in the side by Zach Tuohy but General Manager of Football Simon Lloyd said Rohan should make his return this weekend.

“Gary got very close to playing last week, he had a fitness test at the Gabba in our captain’s run,” Lloyd said.

“Gary has fully trained this week, and we expect him to be available for selection come Saturday against Freo.”

Meantime defender Jed Bews will be a chance to take the field for the first time since Round 16, as he’s made good progress on a knee injury.

“The knee has progressed really well, but there will be a discussion that takes place post-training between our medical team and our coaching team as to whether he’s available or not this week,” Lloyd said.

Lloyd also provided a positive update on Jhye Clark and Cam Guthrie, both still on track to make their returns later in the season.

“Jhye will start to run in two sessions’ time, which is really positive,” he said.

“Jhye has also been coaching in the VFL – he’s been on the sidelines (helping out), which has been great.

“In regards to Cameron Guthrie, Cam’s volume of work has increased significantly.

“He’s kicking, he will start to be involved in part-training, which is really exciting for Cam, and for the club and our members.”

K rock Football will be live from 12pm via FM 95.5 across Geelong and the Surf Coast or krockfootball.live at GMHBA Stadium and everywhere else.
