Leopold is back in the top-five of the GFNL after beating now sixth-placed St Josephs by 32 points (110 – 78) at Drew Oval on Saturday, but their finals hopes still hang in the balance with only percentage separating fourth to sixth places and three rounds left in the home-away season.

St Mary’s remain on top of the table after a hard-fought win by 14 points (91 – 77) over second-placed Colac at Anthony Costa Oval on Sunday.

Newtown & Chillwell and South Barwon still hold third and fourth places respectively, after both had convincing wins on the weekend.

Geelong West also had a good day, soundly beating Grovedale by 35 points (120 – 85) at West Oval.

Meanwhile, St Albans finally got the monkey of its back, tasting its first victory in four years with a surprise 26-point win (78 – 52) over Lara at Bisinella Oval. (See main story.)
